Briza maxima

£2.50

Greater quaking grass

A perfect grass. Delicate pearl coloured raindrops that turn autumnal golden at the turn of the year.

One of my favourite grasses. Short but elegant and the seed heads arch gracefully meaning that yes, they do actually quiver & quake. If it likes your soil, it will self-sow (add a little grit if your soil is very heavy). If you don’t want it spread, then harvest all of your stems at the end of the season and dry them.

Quaking grass dries beautifully into an exquisite golden shade, just hang in bundles in a cool and airy place until completely dry.
