Interview #3: Caroline of Rag of Colts

So, I will confess that this is one of the presents that that made it out of the dream gift guide and into real life. I am getting a RoC’s leather belt for Christmas! I am such an incredible fan of Caroline’s work, and I am an absolute sucker for that tackshop smell, so this is such an incredible treat.

Not as much as a Labrador puppy of course. The ultimate in joy for a child at Christmas.

What makes you feel Christmassy?

I can’t get Christmassy until the last orders are finished and the final packages are posted. This is my seventh Rag of Colts Christmas and these next couple of weeks are always quite intense! That said, my son is now three and this is the first year he really has an understanding of the festivities approaching which is wonderful. My family are scattered all over - too far apart to see each other often - and we come together at Christmas so the excitement of spending time with my nearest and dearest is building.

How are you spending Christmas this year?

My brother is travelling from LA and joining the me and my family in Somerset. Long walks with dogs, roaring log fires and lots of delicious food.

Dream Christmas?

I just love being with my family and friends.

What was the best Christmas present you ever received?

I was given a 12 week old Labrador puppy when I was 11... Diesel. Nothing has ever compared.

And the worst?

In my family we are pretty good at handmade / vintage / repurposed and / or really ‘useful’ presents. My grandma used to wrap up rubber gloves and dish cloths as presents! She did not believe in spoiling the grandchildren… but I honestly think it stood me in good stead.

Who would love one of your bags as a present and why?

At this time of year I get lots of messages saying how many hints have been dropped and how many fingers are crossed that said hints are being taken seriously!

How are you going to relax on Boxing day?

Eating ALL the leftovers and going for a swim.

Possibly not in that order….
