Local economies are essential for all of us. The Guardian tells me that the globe’s richest 1% own half the world’s wealth, and that sort of inequality is not good for anyone at all. (Even them I imagine, but I am struggling to feel sorry for them.) There is a theory that mental illness is very strongly associated with not poverty, but the distance between the richest and the poorest. Yes, I know amazon is probably cheaper, yes, I know it really is jolly convenient, but investing in people, communities, small businesses is exactly that, an investment. And it is one we all benefit from. Think about who you are giving your money to, and spend wisely.
I only stock people from whom I would buy with my own money. People whose work I admire, respect and adore. Please also support them and your local independent makers and shops.
